He presented slides of core samples of lignite that would enthuse the heart of any geologist. The conclusion from his and other studies is there is a large deposit of lignite in west Tennessee which can be economically exploited. The lignite can be obtained with much less removal of overburden than in other deposits in other states. The area where the lignite if found is flat and the lignite could be dug up and the overburden could be replaced without destroying the contour of the ground (because it has very little contour).
