The speaker for the Technical Society meeting on March 13, 2017 will be Dr. John W. Prados. The title of his presentation will be “Educating Engineers for a Global Profession: Can We Make Them Outsource-Resistant?” (PDH)
Dr. Prados has taught engineers since 1953 and he has been involved in every aspect of education since then. Anyone interested in technology education should take this opportunity to learn about this area that is critical to our country’s future success.
The list of a some of his areas of service is awesome: Chair of the Engineering Accreditation Commission, Secretary, and President of the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (now ABET, Inc.); Treasurer and Director of AIChE; President and Treasurer of Sigma Xi, The Scientific Research Society; and member of the Commission on Colleges and Board of Trustees of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools. From 1995 to 2001 he edited the American Society for Engineering Education (ASEE)Journal of Engineering Education.
Dr. Prados has worked at the University of Tennessee as a chemical engineering faculty member, Vice President for Academic Affairs of the statewide University of Tennessee System and Chemical Engineering Department Head. He worked at ORNL and he was Senior Education Associate in the Engineering Directorate of the National Science Foundation.
And he did it all in only 60 years. He has also been a long time member of the Technical Society
