Fellow Society Members-

It is with honor that I serve as President of the Technical Society of Knoxville for the year 2011. Further, with our 90th anniversary occurring this year, I have a humbling respect for our long tradition and all those great members that have gone before. What a significant accomplishment for this organization.

Consistent with our mission, we have a long history of serving our community by promoting technical excellence and raising awareness of those issues that face our professions and community. Our approach of bringing these issues before our membership as technical discussions, or providing comment on technical issues our communities face, has worked toward improving our local condition.

Over these 90 years, our organization has experienced change. That change has been impacted by a variety of factors, all of which are reflected in our history. Currently, we are presented with the challenge to continue to evolve and take this organization to a robust future. Priorities this year have been crafted and include; 1) increasing membership, 2) increasing attendance at our weekly meetings, 3) improving our website, and 4) engaging our membership. Achievement of these priorities has begun, and evolution of our organization is taking place with the engagement of our Officers and members.

Benefits to members are significant in education on cutting edge technical issues and the associated networking opportunities. Join me in promoting the benefits of this great organization, adding to our impressive membership roster, and building on our historical past. Let’s make 2011, and the years to come, worthy of the impressive history of the Technical Society of Knoxville.

Thank you,
Berny Ilgner, PG
President
